THE STORY: Monday February 7, Day 12
Monday need to be a little slower after the intense concert week in Palmetto. Stig decides to recover some lost sleep. He stays at the hotel during the day. We have some rain before noon. It´s a summer rain with 20 centigrade temperature. The travel group goes to a Shopping Mall I Orlando where we do some shopping, mostly cloths and presents.

After a light lunch the female part of the group goes to “The Holy Land” a park built by Trinity Broadcasting Network. A miniature Jerusalem can be seen. They also attend a very good passion play about the life of Jesus. The ladies talk fast and engaged when they tell about their experiences.

While the ladies visit the Holy Land Hans and Lars discovers another Shopping Mall, The Festival Bay Mall. There is a Western Store located and Lars buys himself a Stetson hat, an nice utensil for a wannabe cowboy. With all the Western inspiration we have got we also eat our dinner at the Ponderosa Steakhouse. After a meal at the prairie we hit the bed for an early morning and a day at Disney´s Magic Kingdom.

BERÄTTELSEN: Måndag 7 februari, Dag 12
Måndagen blir lite lugnare efter den intensiva konsertveckan i Palmetto. Stig beslutar sig för att ta ifatt lite förlorad sömn. Han stannar på hotellet hela dagen för att sova och vila. Det regnar lite på förmiddagen. Det är ett sommarregn med 20 grader i luften. Övriga resesällskapet förutom Stig far till ett stort köpcentrum där vi spenderar några timmar med diverse inköp. Främst kläder och presenter.

Efter en lätt lunch intar sällskapets kvinnor upplevelselandet ”The Holy Land” som är en del av TV-stationen Trinity Brodcasting Network. Landet är en uppbyggnad av vissa delar av Jerusalem med mycket fakta om Bibelns tid. Där framförs också ett mycket uppskattat passionsspel. Damerna talar i munnen på varandra då de berättar hur bra det varit.

Med Stig i vila och damerna i det heliga landet så åker Hans o Lars till ett köpcentrum där det också finns en Western Store. En lämplig hatt för wannabee cowboys inköps.

Med all den cowboy inspiration vi fått intar vi alla följdriktigt kvällsmåltiden på stekhuset Ponderosa. Efter präriemåltiden återvänder vi till Vilda Västern affären så att även Marianne kan inköpa en cowgirl hat.

Tidigt i säng för att klara morgondagens påfrestningar på Disney och ”The Magic Kingdom” dvs Musse Pigg o Co.

THE STORY: Florida 2011, Sunday February 6, Day 11

We are packing up and leaving Tampa – Ellenton – Palmetto. At 9 AM we are on the road to be able to make it to Orlando FL and after that drive to the town of De Land approx 1 hour North West of Orlando. There we will attend a church service at 2 PM where Stephen Hill is singing and playing at the Stetson Baptist Church.

We realize that the exchange car we got to replace the hit car was a lot smaller. We have a real challenge to get all suite cases and bags inside the car. But with a hammer and a crowbar and a good spirit we managed.

Arriving at Orlando we eat lunch at our favorite place the Golden Corral. It is just “across the street” from our hotel. We check in change som clothes and we are off to De Land. A severe car accident at Interstate 4 where two youths are killed makes the traffic to come to a complete stop for almost 40 minutes. We are happy for our own safety but are really sorry for the young people who lost their lives.

Coming in to the service we still can attend a concert in Stephen Hill´s home environment. Stephen has been to Huskvarna two times. Last in December 2010 with the program “Spirit of Christmas” It was great fun to meet Stephen and be able to talk a little with him after the service. Even more so with Ulla and Stig who were his host during his last visit to Sweden.

We close the day with an evening meal at Kentucky Fried Chicken and the we hir the bed.

BERÄTTELSEN: Florida 2011, Söndag 6 februari, Dag 11

Vi packar och lämnar Tampa – Ellenton – Palmetto för denna gång. Kl 9 är vi på väg för att hinna till Orlando och checka in och sedan köra vidare till staden De Land ca 1 timma nordöst om Orlando. I De Land ska vi vara med i en gudstjänst kl 14 där Stephen Hill sjunger och spelar i Stetson Baptist Church.

De visar sig att bilen vi fick som ersättning för den som blev påkörd var en hel del mindre. Det blir därför en liten utmaning att få in alla väskor jämte resesällskapet. Men med lite vaselin, några skohorn och lite glatt humör så lyckades det.

Väl framme i Orlando äter vi lunch på sällskapets favoritställe Golden Corall som ligger på promenadavstånd från hotellet. Därefter checkar vi in byter lite kläder och drar iväg till staden De Land. En svår trafikolycka på Interstate n:o 4 med två dödade gör att trafiken blir i stort sett helt stillastående under en lång stund. Vi är ledsna för det som hänt och bara glada att vi besparats sådana händelser. Vi kommer till gudstjänsten ca 40 minuter efter den börjat men får ändå vara med en god stund och se Stehen Hill i sin ”hemmiljö”. Stephen har varit i Huskvarna vid två tillfällen. Senast i kyrkan Kungsporten i dec 2010 med sitt sångprogram ”Spirit of Christmas”. Det var roligt att återse Stephen och få prata lite med honom efter sånggudstjänsten. Inte minst för Ulla och Stig som var värdar för Stephen under hela deras svenska rundtur.

Vi avslutar dagen med en enklare kvällsmat på Kentucky Fried Chicken som ligger alldeles invid hotellet. Nu sova för att hinna med nya äventyr under måndagen.

Florida 2011 - Saturday 5 Feb - Day 10

Day 10
Saturday is supposed to be a full day of concerts

Early morning service at the Chapel with the Mark Tramell Quartet. Inspiring music and a god message by Mark Tramell. We divide for lunch. Stig and some from the group eat at the Waffel House. The rest eat some fresh fruit at the hotel.

A truck enters the parking lot at the Waffel House and hits our car. A sorrow english teacher and his wife have rented the truck to move their furniture. The truck came to close to our parked car and hit it. I tough police woman was called in and she took our report. She does it very accurate. It takes 45 minutes to write the report. We talk to the car rental and they send us a new car. We have it delivered after a couple of hours. Thanks Alamo. The group missed the afternoon concert but otherwise all is OK.

By 6 PM the last concert of the week begins. We enjoy Mark Tramell Quartet, the Bowling family, the Christ family etc.

We say good bye to our friends, Stan and Bonnie, Paul and Rosie, Stig says good bye to his fan club. Then back to the hotel for some sleep.



Lördag är tänkt som en heldag med konserter. Förmiddag ”Chapel”med Mark Tramell Quartet. En mycket inspirerande grupp och en mycket inspirerande predikan av Mark. Lite uppdelad grupp till lunchen. Stig plus några äter på the Waffel House runt hörnet och övriga intar frukt på hotellet.

En lastbil sveper in på parkeringen där Stig står parkerad och sveper bort det bakre högra vänstra hörnet av bilen vi hyrt. En olycklig historielärare och hans fru hade hyrt lastbilen för att flytta sitt bohag och han kom för nära vår bil. Nåväl en mycket tuff polissyster tillkallas och hon undersöker och skriver under 45 minuter innan hon är klar med rapporten. Därefter beställer vi en ny bil från hyrfirman. Vi hade ju faktiskt tagit den extra försäkringen om vägassistans. Den kom in väldigt ”handy” nu. Efter några timmar kommer hyrfirman med en ny bil från flygplatsen och allt är återställt. Thanks ALAMO! Visserligen missade Stig em-konserten men annars är allt OK.

Kl 18 far vi till den sista konserten under denna vecka. Mark Tramell Quartet är med ikväll också så också Familjen Bowling trots att de varit med om en svår trafikolycka i juli förra året där de var allvarligt skadade. Nu är de i full fart igen.

Vi säger farväl till de speciella vänner som vi fått under veckan, bl.a. Stan o Bonnie samt Paul o Rosie. Stig tar ett speciellt farväl av sin fanclub. Sedan hem och sova utmattade men lyckliga.
